A Beautiful Vase of Flowers (art)

I chose to colour this picture because flowers are so peaceful. The original picture has  cream flowers but I wanted something more colorful. I like my green background even though I thought it was white!

Athletics Day!

Last week on Friday it was Athletics Day. I am in the Rata team (Red). I felt nervous and excited at the same time.

The races started after morning tea but first we all gathered under the canopy. Ms. Bullot told us to go in lines in our team colour. Then each team walked to the field and sat on the big blue mat provided by the teachers. We all eagerly waited for the first event to start.

"On your marks, get set,go!" yelled Ms. Bullot to the first group of runners for the fifty metre running race. We all cheered for our teams and sang our chants. I sang my team's chant,"Let's go Rata, Let's go!" I sang it over and over again until I started to lose my voice.

Then my race came on. I came third and I was very nervous. It was such a fun day in the sun and after Athletics Day we didn't have Popsicles like we have in the past.

The Best Day of My Life - Frances

The Best Day of My Life

Early in the morning one Sunday, I got up eagerly to prepare myself for church with my uncle, auntie and baby cousin.

When we got there we prayed and sang during the mass and listened to Father Andrew’s homily. After church my uncle and aunt surprised me by saying, “Let’s go for a picnic at Cornwall Park!” I felt so happy and excited!

We drove there in a smart car and it was only a short drive. When we got there we saw groups of people taking pictures at the very pretty cherry blossom trees. There were about fifty cherry blossom trees that had the most beautiful little white and pink flowers. Lots and lots of petals fell and covered the ground like a blanket of snow. We were all beaming with happiness as we also took photos under the cherry blossom trees.

Then we saw sheep and cute baby lambs. They were all white and they seemed so happy and content eating the long green grass. Later, my baby cousin walked towards a fluffy dog. Its name was Chip and he was very friendly. My cousin played with the dog and the owners were so friendly.

Eventually we decided to eat our lunch. We set up under a large tree and together we ate juicy roast chicken, freshly baked blueberry muffins, delicious and crunchy salty nuts and sparkling water. Thinking about it right now, I would love to go back there again soon because it truly was the best day of my life.

🌿My Whakapapa Story🌿

                       My Whakapapa Story

Hi my name is Frances. I am the youngest in my family. My mum said I am the baby. The tallest Koru is my Dad. He passed away four years ago. I miss dancing with my Dad because we used to dance when I was three. The Koru next to my Dad is my mum who is pretty, caring and works very hard for the family so we can become rich. The next Koru is my second older brother and his name is Kevin. He works at Glen Innes McDonald's. He is sixteen but taller than my other older brother. The Koru next to me is my oldest brother Kit. He is twenty years old and he works at a hospital. Both of my brothers celebrate their birthday in the same month of November. We are from the Philippines but we now live in New Zealand.

st patrick's Day

On Monday, Room 6  went to church to celebrate St Patrick's day. After that we went back to school and Room 6 went back to our class.

We did Jump Jam for a short time and then it was morning tea.
When the bell rang, Mrs Bullot called out our names into teams.

My group's first activity was a gumboot throw with Mrs George. We had to throw as far as we could. It was my favourite activity. Then we did another activity. Then another, and so on and so on.

At the end of the games we all had an ice block under the canopy. We had such a great St Patrick's day.
