Collaborative Creature
Last week Mrs Collins asked us to create a Collaborative Creature. We were in groups of three and in the beginning we had to draw the face of an animal in the top third of the page. I drew the face of a Llama. Then I passed my paper to Jamie and she drew a bear's body, holding honey. In the end, Jacob drew the tail of a lion. When I opened up my picture it was funny to see my new creature. I named my creature "Llama-berion."

Bird of the year
This photo I have chosen because it shows the Hoiho, which is the bird of the year in NZ.
The Hoiho has yellow eyes. And they live in the south island.
Penguins flap their flippers to move through the water.
They have pink beaks and they eat fish which is their favourite food.
They only live in New Zealand and there are not many of them.

Planting Our Vegetable Garden-Frances
Last week we went to the garden to plant vegetables. The dirt was dry so we had to flip the dirt over with the shovel and Mrs Agnew had the big fork. We dug holes for the seedlings and me and Jamie got our vegetables ready. Ours were tomatoes. So we picked up our plant gently because if we don't do it gently then the dirt will fall off. We made them cosy by pushing the soil firmly around them.
Then we saw lots of earthworms and Jamie saw a yellow worm. Mrs Agnew saw a spider with an egg sac at its back.
We need to plant vegetables so that we can be healthy, eat fresh food and gardening keeps us fit. If we grow our own vegetables then we can save money because you don't have to buy them at the supermarket. So all students need to bring veggies to SCHOOL now that we are a Nude Food School. I like eating salad so much.

Making tukutuku patterns
Tukutuku patterns
Last week my classmates and I were making takutuku patterns. First I used my plain white piece of cardboard which is called a loom. It had 10 thin lines on it which I had to cut along very carefully. I took my black and red paper strips and weaved it through the white paper until I got a clear and vibrant pattern.
I had to stick down the ends so I didn't lose them. Then I gave my mat a 'haircut.'
Ms.Agnew took a photo and here is my photo.

Smart Relationship Qualities
Cybersmart
Today Ms.Collins taught us Smart Relationship qualities like
Interesting, joyful, beautiful, smart and positive.
I was with Desiree and we had to decide how we could win the competition of building the tallest tower.
We started by planning for ten minutes how we could use 12 pieces of spaghetti sticks and 8 marshmallows.
After morning tea we had to actually build the tower. Ours was 17cm and it stood without falling for 3 seconds.
After that Ms.Collins took pictures and we could eat the marshmallow tower. It was a good activity to do to show how strong our friendship is.

Matariki slide show
Matariki
We have been learning about Matariki and then we had to make a presentation to share with the class. I thought it was very interesting to learn about why this time of the year is important to Maori people. Enjoy my presentation.

Catholic schools' Day
On Tuesday it was the Catholic's Schools' Day!
I was so EMBARRASSED because I had to read in Mass in front of so many people!
We went to the church and the readers had to sit on the long seats on the left hand side. At church I was the reader. I was the first one to read because Sister Evalesi thinks that I'm really good at reading because I've done it many times. Also children from St Pius X and St Ignatius schools read too. I was really nervous because I had to read in front of 400 people.
After that we all had lunch. St Ignatius and St Pius children sat under the canopy to eat but we sat inside our classroom.
After the bell rang the other schools went back to their buses because it was raining and we couldn't play sport together. Then Mrs Agnew came into the class and we had a choice to play Lego, blocks, drawing, reading books or typing club on our chrome books. We had the best day EVER!

St patricks Day
On Monday we had so much fun because it was St Patrick's Day. First we went to the bean bag throw and skipping rope loop. I got two bean bags in the red box and then I went through the hula hoop and we had to do five skips. I failed at five skips. Mrs. Agnew said "should we have a another round" and our team and the other team shouted, "yeah". That was my favourite tabloid. I loved St Patrick's Day especially having an ice block at the END.
